If it is being sponsored by a big online startup - why so much money? Do they not think that they could get Ivey, Brunson, etc to show up for a paltry 20 million dollar first prize?

I don't know man, they're building a dome, putting up 100 million...they're going all out for this...I think they don't realize how big poker already is because it sounds like they're trying to jump the bandwagon before poker gets "really big"....lol a little too late.

No but mentally, it's a huge difference from losing your own 10 million dollar buy in, and losing freeroll. Players using their own money will play much differently than with a freeroll, no matter how good they are.

Okay, I found out everything I could and compiled it at my blog. This isn't spam, I have no affiliate links or anything on it, it's just easier for me to link across all the poker forums this way.

Wow your blog is just a tabloid of random online poker [censored]. Now I've seen it all.

Reporting on people losing money?

edit: I suppose it is kinda funny, further negative comments removed.

I don't report on people losing money unless it's funny.

Like the Prahlad one, the funny part was the hit and run by IKnockuout and nobody at the time knew who that was.

Prahlad goes through monster swings, this is common knowledge so him losing a certian amount in a session is not newsworthy cause he'll get it all back then some.

The jennicide was newsworthy because a "friend" donked off 1/3 of her bankroll and she didn't even bat an eye.

I *THINK* I reported on all the rumors going around that gus hansen was busted (lol and hit by a bus), but that was definately the buzz of the week and I didn't confirm it, I just reported was was being said at places like here and FCP and what not.

too much money. There will be such collusion.

Obviously, this will be the first ever tournament field that agreed to chop the entire prize pool before the cards hit the felt. Maybe they'll leave a few hundred grand on the table for shits and giggles.

From what I've read the $60 million tourney will not be played in the Pokerdome. It will be played in a casino in Australia. Apparently Todd Brunson and Jen Harmon(?) will be in it with Ivey and Hachem.

The Pokerdome will be in Las Vegas and will host their weekly shows (which will feature the 15 second clock--I don't think that will apply to the mega-event). The Pokerdome itself will not be a dome really it will be a room with a single table surrounded by one-way glass. Presumably so the audience can see the players' hole cards without being able to signal anything to the players.

If the players can't see or hear the audience, however, I don't see the advantage of being in the same room with them. Just put them in another room like it's always been done.

So far it's being reported that the players in the mega-event are buying in for $10 million apiece. However, it's also reported that Mansionpoker is paying $100 million over the 3 years into this series. If so, where is that $100 million going? Personally, I don't see these high profile players running off to Australia to play in a $10m sit and go. If they wanted to do that they could play at Brunson's house and not pay taxes on the winnings.

Some of that $100m from Mansionpoker has to be going into the prize funds of these mega-events. I wonder when we'll find out how much.

If this is a one-day, 10-hour event, it's a freakin' joke.

Six players with deep enough stacks to play for 10 days to declare a winner...then we're talking.

It sitll has to be poker though, if the stacks are 30k and the blinds start at 1/2 like you seem to want then the first 2 days will be [censored]. It should be done like a regular deepstack tournament. Sure there will be a decent sized element of luck in it as well then, but that's the game that's being played.
