Default How many NL SH tables do you play? is it easier to play more?

Hi,

i usually play 2 NL SH.

This morning due to a lack of tables i played 1 SH and 1 ring. I found myself playing badly on the SH table as i was trying too many moves and getting frustrated by my endless lack of winning hands.

I've thought this for a long time, and today was a classic example, that multitabling improves rather than weakens play, as you dont get a bit bored and try bluffs/calls just to try to win hands to get yourself out of the rot.

Please comment about your thoughts on that. Also, how many SH tables can you play at one time/what number of tables yields your highest hourly rate?

as ever, replies greatly appreciated.

I like to play 8 or 9 s/h games, who knows what gets the highest hourly rate...I assume since I make no mistakes 10 woudl probably make more. But sometimes when I'm just playing around or playing higher stakes I can settle for 1 or 2 tables.

8-9!!!!!!!!!

wow. i knew people did that on limit but didnt realise you could manage that on NL. dont you find if you get 2 big juicy hands at the same time it really difficult to play both of them very well at the same time as folding/limping with another 2-3 tables happening at the same time.

I dropped limits once to do 4 at the same time with a 5th omaha ring table which i could manage. slight problem is i can only fit properly 4 tables on my screen at once.

While I agree that it is easy to lose patience while single-tabling, and while I anknowledge that a higher hourly rate is obtainable through multitabling, I must disagree with the blanket statement that multitabling makes you play better, especially shorthanded. To me, a NLSH is organic and changing. Even though you may be able to beat it with PT and sound strategy, I think you miss a lot of the subtle trends if you multitable. An example is that you may not notice a player who is tilting slightly after being two-outed on the previous hand.

I normally have no problem just playing one table of 5-10 NLSH and remaining patient. Then again, it is a large portion of my BR and is fairly new and exciting to me. If my usual trend of "getting used" to limits holds for this game, I'll be multitabling in no time. Actually, if the trend holds, I'll be broke and back at my day job.

I play one table almost exclusively. If I had been at a table for 2 hours or so and have good reads on the other I might open one more if I find a good one.

I also sometimes play a cheap sit&go or MTT same time as the 6-max table.

I would rather play 4 or so games of 10/20 than one table of 50/100, one 25/50, six tables of 2/4, $2 a point Indian Poker and a game of Acey Deucey on the side.
