Default Just curious what people think here

Your in a well known casino in Las Vegas playing 80-160 or thereabouts and a
fellow player(who you have never played with before) asks you if you would like
to play in his weekly home game tomorrow night. You can't bring your own cards
because they already have them and they have their own dealer(but you can't see
him) so you won't even have to deal. Would you play?

If you would, I equate this too playing online.

This analogy sucks. They have an invisible dealer??? Started off ok and I thought you were trying to see if ppl thought you were going to get cheated in a home game against unknowns. Then it morphed into a subclever poker is rigged/ppl are cheating post.

This may equate to accepting an invite to a private table online from someone you dont know. Showing up at the table and having everyone know eachother aside from you. This is generally not the case online unless you are a total moron.

Obviously. And you won't play anywhere live that uses automatic shufflers, right?

You imply a question of faith. So the obvious rejoinder is, why do you have faith that your game in Vegas is clean?

Wow. I never thought about it like that before. You sir, have brought the level of discourse of this forum to a new high. Yr analogy is as well thought out as it is logical and intelligent.

The grammatical incorrectness only adds to the artistic depth of your prose. I congratulate you sir!

All tables are essentially private at any online site, in that they are at their site. What difference does it make what table your at anyways because it is the same dealer at every table...their Computer.

No, sorry, terrible analogy.

First, when you sit at a table online, it isn't because one of the players invited you (special cases excepted), and it isn't anybody's regular game. Most of the players don't know each other any better than they know you. None of the players own the site (except in a limited shareholder sense) or wrote the software. Collusion online is the same as collusion in B&M.

A more apt analogy would go something like:
What if you were driving along a freeway and saw a billboard advertising a cardroom at the next exit. You take the exit, park your car, walk into the casino, walk up the the brush and ask to be put on the list for 5-10. She tells you she has one seat available, and walks you over to the table. You sit down, put cash on the table in front of you, and the dealer exchanges it for chips. You wait for your BB, post and are dealt two cards face down.

What was the question hidden in there? Was it "is online poker rigged"? If so I say no.
Unfortunalely since you tried to be clever about asking this question we shall never know for sure if this is the wisdom you seek.

Again, no. Nearly none of the tables at any of the sites are private in that anyone with an account on that site can sit and play. Thats where your analogy sucks. If you go to a home game with a bunch of guys who are all friends you may be cheated by them working together. Get it yet???

BTW what was your question again??

A guy on RGP showed me a post by SGT. Rock which basically is the same premise as my post making it redundant over there. Maybe here too.
