Default Is there anyone else that noticed this? (15-30 vs. 30-60)

I made the move from 15-30 to 30-60 about six weeks ago. I've played around 10,000 hands since i made the switch, and i've noticed several things. Players tend to respect the game and money more in the 30-60 game. I rarely see players sit down with $1500 and go broke in thirty minutes...I saw this frequently in the 15-30 games. The 30-60 is less of a "minefield". Sometimes in 15-30 you'd see five or six players take a capped flop and three of them staying to the end with 25-30 BB's in the pot. I've also noticed that at 30-60, it takes about 150 big bets to have the proper funds for the game. In 15-30, I felt like I needed considerably more to be comfortable with the swings. Right now i'm spending my time playing one 30-60 and one 15-30, and it's working out well, I hope to be multi tabling 30-60 by the first of the year. According to my calculations...i'm averaging $41.40/hr. on 30-60, and on 15-30 I was averaging $23.75/hr....

Anyone here have an idea of what their hourly rates are or were at these levels, and any comments on the jump between the two games?

You don't think $9000 is enough for 30-60?

What do you think is sufficient?

What do you suggest to be enough for 30-60?

I think the consensus is that you want 300-400BB for pretty much any limit I think.

This is absolutely untrue, be it B&M or online, unless your 16 tabling. I've done very well 3-4 tabling 10/20 full (I assume we aren't talking 6 max), and have never needed more than 5k online at any given time.

hmm, well considering i had a friend who swung down and then back up 20k in a single day in that game, and in my limited amount of play have had more than one 10k swing in a days time, im gonna go with "NO" 9k probably isnt gonna cut it.

This is true if one or more of the following applies to you:

1) you suck
2) you're VERY unlucky
3) you play in games where your edge is extremely small and you also happen to run bad starting right when you move up, and you refuse to move down.

Anyway, IMO 200-250BB is sufficient to take shots at a given level (150BB is a lot more risky), provided you have the skillz to beat the game, and you're willing to move down temporarily if needed to regain confidence and replenish your BR.

That's sick. A 20K swing? A 10K swing?

I single table 30-60 and in the last six weeks and 10,000 hands the worst swing i've had was 2400 in a marathon Saturday morning to Sunday morning session....And i've had wins that exceeded 3K in four or five hours. I dont play particularly fast- I play at work, and i've made a habit of only playing certain hands in certain situations, and I might be losing some equity by playing like this, but I know the swings aren't nearly as great. I'm guily of playing 17% of my hands in the last year online....
LOL.
