Default Flop Decision

I would really appreciate your help guys.

I am trying to help my brother improve his game. This hand cropped up today.

5 handed.

UTG (unknown) has posted a blind (in error?)and checks
Bro has A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] in UTG+1 and raises.
Button (19/11) CC
Both blinds fold and UTG calls

Flop is:- 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players; 7.5SB)

UTG bets.

To give him impartial advice, that may be better than mine, could you explain the best action for Bro and why?

Cheers all

Trevor

Fold.

The first mistake was raising AJo UTG+1. It's a dominated hand that's easy to overplay. I would call instead and hope to flop J-rag-rag rainbow.

That said, to post UTG is a gambler's move. He probably called any two remotely playable cards to protect his post. It's impossible to put him on a hand now.

The flop is pretty damn coordinated. What could UTG possibly be holding?

any two diamonds
A8
A4
A5
A2
A3
45
34
35
... on and on

There are way too many coordinated cards on the flop to make a call against an unknown opponent, and even less reason to call when you can't put UTG on two big cards.

It's 5-handed. This is a clear raise.

Your preflop raise is standard five handed.

Since you are in the middle, folding is probably best.

it really depends on the limit. If its a tough game he could lead with a straight draw or a flush draw, its also pretty easy to assume hes an aggressive type player who would bet out with these come hands as he posted utg (who the hell does that) Its obviously raise or fold. If you're in a weak game just fold and forget about it. It seems though that either way your lookin at a pair of like strong mid pair or weak top. Personally,i like a fold here.
