maybe I'm little weird, I'd rather abandon 100K prize than see my name publicly after it.

This might be the weirdest and most wrong thing ever written on 2p2.

Out of curiosity..is your name Mark Grandy? Because if so, the irony is absolutely unfathomable.

Sheraton and Fitzgeralds both put up tons of billboards with some smiling jackpot winner and it says "Michael A. won $43,000!!"

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm not really sure why, but I just always assumed these people got some sort of compensation for being up on the billboard.

I think itīs pure marketing strategy. It just seems more real and reachable for the standard player if they read real names. It just the" It could happen to you also" principle, thatīs makes casinos give away the players real names.

[/ QUOTE ]

FWIW, a lot of those are B.S. and just that, marketing. At least some of the casinos.

I'm sure Party and the other publically traded companies aren't doing this but I had a friend who work for an on-line casino in Hungary. He said they would go to Germany or somewhere and test drive a car and then get a bunch of pictures and post them as a "winner" of some "prize". I never really bought into (or played because of) "prizes". WSOP seats or tourneys are another thing, though. Oh, and pens, I can buy that!

Why? Do you have an embarrassing name? Like Ben Dover? Jack Hoff?

I doubt it.

you win big in their place.

they get your name and photo when they are giving you the money.

you have probably already agreed to have your likeness used somewhere along the way.

i'm not positive about this...but I think it should just be too easy for the casinos to set it up where they get to use the likeness for free.

maybe they just use the pics and names of the folks who are agreeable (you're pretty happy about the big win anyway....so you might just sign whatever and be okay with it) and maybe there are also a bunch of winners who don't agree to it (whose pic we obviously don't see on various billboards)
