Agency wants their commission, and wants to lock you up, by the way. There's probably the least amount of pressure coming from the place of employment.

I just recently went through a little annoyance deciding between two offers because both were recommended to me by different agencies. If you can, try to get the actual place of employment on the phone and see what there timeline is like. They may not need the answer as quickly as the agency is saying.

Yup, computer programmer (.NET w/SQL Server 2000). I agree with the car salesman comment. She's been pushing since the minute they made the offer and telling me they need to get back to them ASAP. In this area, there aren't that many programmers...I don't think they have people lining up. The company also said that they have two positions (same) that they're hiring for.

Girlfriend moved to Florida. I miss her and want to pursue that relationship, which would require me to move to Florida obviously.

LOL, normally I would agree whole-heartedly. But I honestly think this could be my last relationship. I wouldn't even consider it for just any girl. I'm willing to risk it.

Take the local job and then quit if the Florida job pans out. Don't worry about the two weeks...you won't have worked there long enough where two weeks will make any difference to them. Lots of companies don't want you around for the two weeks if you're leaving, anyway. They'll be pissed off enough that you're leaving so quickly, and giving two weeks' notice won't make them any less so.

Pursuing a girl that you feel might be "the one" is more important than worrying about whether total strangers will be pissed off at you when you quit to be with her.

I agree wholeheartedly with this except that I'm not even sure if its worth taking the new job. It sounds like you are pretty employable, have a decent job now and are almost definately moving to Florida. Maybe I should have read more responses.
