Standard Rake for 1/2 NL?
Casino Niagara charges 5 a half hour which is rather rediculous(even with the total idiots that play the game)is that standard for this game? Also would a rake to 4 or 5 be better for the players, I personally hate this rake structure as I tend to play more rock like than the average idiot on this tables.......

Re: Standard Rake for 1/2 NL?
if you had a rake to 4, and a decent delaer doing 35 hands/hr, $140 would be raked which is $14/hr per player if your playing with 10, $15.50/hr per player if 9 handed. This is if the rake is every hand at $4, if its a percentage rake it would probably be lower than the time charge but it dependso n the game. However, since your a rock it may favor you to still have that kind of structure, even though per player its taking more.

Re: Standard Rake for 1/2 NL?
Casino Niagara is US or Canadian dollar? In Detroit they take $6/half hour. In Vegas you'll find $3-4 max. In California I belive it's even more w/ a bad beat drop. I say I think it's more based on a 2-5nl game I played. There were 3 callers, I bet, there were no callers and $3 was taken out right away!! I asked the floorman at the bike and he said this was how they do it and it's standard in LA.

Re: Standard Rake for 1/2 NL?
assess the game -if there are a bunch of donkeys the game may be worth $20-$50 an hour. If the game is full of rocks and you can't see yourself realistically being able to net a decent earn including the time charge WALK...play in a good LHE game instead..
If there are plenty of idiots a $10 per hour time charge should be easy to fade since you should be able net $20+ an hour including the time charge. If the game is mediocre you may be a loser even without the time charge-matters how good a NLHE player you are and whether you can adjust to tighter games without blowing up. |

Re: Standard Rake for 1/2 NL?
Actually I was on a weak tight table on a Saturday afternoon and I was just leaving for a dinner break and I knew that I had to machine the table(these guys would lay anything down unless they caught the ace), but i was too hungry and tired to bother so I left, but that's the only winning strategy I can think of for tight tables....... Re: Standard Rake for 1/2 NL?
I play Casino Niagara's 1/2 once in a while. The time charge is pretty high (100/hr for the table) but no worse than taking a drop of 10% to $5 they do on the limit games.
The players are so unbelievably bad that its totally worth 10/hr. Don't worry about the rake, play your game, and you'll be fine. There are guys making a living on the CN 1/2 believe it or not. |
