If you are concerned about the connection to your bank account and fear it being compromised . . .

. . . then don't be. Neteller is publicly traded on the London AIM exchange with a market cap of over a billion dollars. They aren't going to steal your money.

I wasn't specificly referring to Neteller. BUT - there is no guarentee they can't get hacked or have your pwd/security information sniffed out. Likely - NO Possible - Yes. So I mention it as a tip for "Piece of Mind" purposes. I would rather not wake up one morning to find my regular account cleaned out.

You can't open a "isolated" account and just keep money in there with no connection to banks/Bank Details/Credit cards etc?

[/ QUOTE ]

You can.

Assuming that most of the people on these boards are either already winning players, or aspire to be so soon, it does make sense to to attach you Neteller account to a B+M bank of some sort. There will hopefully come a day when you want to regularly draw down part of your bankroll for day-to-day cash on hand, holidays etc.

I think that one reason that you might wish to hook your Neteller Account up to an off-shore bank (from a US perspective) would be for "tax efficiency". The UK Government, for example, views all gambling winnings as completely tax-free.

There is also the possibility that the US Government will harden it's stance against internet gambling and poker in particular. One possible course of action would be for them to stop the US-based banks from dealing with Neteller, Firepay and the poker sites themselves.

How long did it take to set up your netteller account. I have IGMPay right now, but Poker Stars doesn't seem to accept it. I want to sign up for a bonus that ends tonight so I'm just curious if I can set up a netteller account in time, or if I should just put it on my credit card.

Thanks.

I've read the thread and found several questions posed weren't actually answered by someone.

Here is my experience with Neteller. I chose to use my ordinary bank account, the one I write checks against, for Electronic Cash Transfers to Neteller. Let's say I write a check to pay for groceries, a resturant bill, or to pay for car repairs. The implication is that my check, with the account number, will be visible to every employee at that establishment. Yet no one has ever taken advantage of this special info. This is by way of talking to the paronoia that some have about sharing their account info with Neteller.

I went thru the hoops quickly and accurately; it wasn't all that hard! Then I waited several days while Neteller sent a few pennies to my bank account, I obtained from my bank the amount of that deposit, and I then reported to Neteller the size of this deposit. Can it be done in a week? Probably, but don't count on it! The name of the game with Neteller is "PLAN AHEAD."

At least at first it will take time. I have no idea how long transfers from a casino to Neteller, and subsequent transfer to another casino or to my bank, will require. Hence plan on it taking too long. Place extra monies into Neteller, to allow for the unexpected opportunity for an especially rich bonus.

Of course, there are many players of internet poker for whom poker is their only source of income, or their only hope for having income! These players must experiment so as to make these transfers as quick and certain as possible, since their level of bonus income depends on agility. I can't help anymore than I have above, despite my intentions!

Unfortunately the news I present will be discouraging for some, who recognize electronic transfers require only moments to do, so what's the big delay? Security precautions imposed by banks, Neteller, casinos etc all slow the process. These delays are part of the opportunity cost of playing poker. After all, if we spend our time working to get up to 2.0 BBs/100, rather than our present 1.0 BBs/100, that improvement is more important than the most efficient usage of bonuses, JMHO!
