I really like the turn lead because it kinda makes it look like you don't have a J against a thinking player.

Damn, I thought for sure nobody else would've mentioned this
Good comments all around. Too bad he didn't raise.

What cards did you plan to bet on the turn? What did you put him on? Overcards? Flush draw?

I think his most likely hand is overcards+(BD)FD.
I would have either reraised the flop or lead the turn if a non-heart flops.

Why?

[/ QUOTE ]
Because Shillx is using the board pairing scare card as a cover to value bet. Often, when a bet comes out of nowhere, the person doesn't appear to have what he has. That's why Shillx is able to check-raise on the river, because Villain isn't giving him credit for the J.

Good post - I agree with you & Donkey.
I hope you & bottomset are happy now.

What was the idea of the river check? That villian would put you on a J if you bet and not call, so you induced a bluff bet? Looks good.

3 betting this flop against a solid player is no good. Why?

If you three bet the flop, you will likely only get called on the turn unless it's a heart and villian made a flush. By just calling the flop, you might be able to expect Villian to bet the turn and then you can checkraise a non heart. In this case, a J came on the turn so Villian could be expected to get afraid of a checkraise and not bet, so Hero's best option now is to bet out.

Edit: If villian was on a heart flush draw, he probably wouldn't bet the turn anyway, so a bet by hero is good here anyway.

I think that was Shillx's thinking. That would have been mine, anyway.
