Thanks for the responses guys. So in reality the villain and hero roles were reversed. My stack was pretty abysmal and I decided to push when the BB hit the smallest stack regardless of what cards. He called with K9s and I was trying to figure out whether that was a decent call.

FYI I pushed with 8-high.

Waiting to push the small stack with a small stack is backasswards for all the reasons already posted he is the last person you want to raise. Make your NE2 stand against a middle stack who is going to be much more wary of taking a hit.
