Default New to PLO... please review the turn

This was a hand played by a friend of mine. I've been playing O8 for a few weeks, but I haven't tried Pot Limit O8 yet. The turn raise puzzles me, because although the low hand is made, there is a possibility the HERO may be quartered. Please advise

Paradise Poker Pot-Limit Omaha/8, $2 BB (7 handed) converter

MP1 ($616.50)
MP2 ($1213.00)
CO ($264.75)
Button ($123.75)
SB ($514.75)
BB ($389.75)
Hero ($388.50)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $2.
Hero calls $4, MP1 folds, MP2 calls $4, CO calls $4, Button calls $4, SB (poster) completes, BB checks.

Flop: ($24) 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (6 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets $4, MP2 calls $4, CO folds, Button folds, SB folds, BB raises to $40, Hero calls $36, MP2 calls $36.

Turn: ($144) 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
BB bets $100, Hero raises to $344.5, MP2 folds, BB calls $244.50.

River: ($833) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)

Final Pot: $833

In looking at this hand - with no player reads, I find it unlikely that the player is actually quartered. I play more Limit 08 than Pot Limit, but the only scenerios where this player is quarteed, and low on outs is if the villian holds A24x or A233.

With the made low on the flop, I don't think an overpair is staying in here, so the 8 is actually top pair. On top of that, unless the villian holds 33 or 43 (possibly 84) the hero also has the nut flush draw working for him.

Like I said, this is very player dependant, but I think many times the Hero will be the one taking 3/4 here.

I am mostly confused by his play on the flop. He made a small bet and then just called a raise. He has a hand that will do well heads up or can take on the field. I would gladly put all my money in on the flop and take my chances.

His play on the turn may force A2 to fold, which would make it a great raise. His only danger is the bettor has A2 and a full house.

I could understand raising again on the flop, but not on the turn.

Hero's got a weird hand, crappy high with a nut draw and the nut low, where you want to knock out a good high if a better one exists. On a pairing card here MP might be folding a lot of hands he shouldn't if he sees both hands.

I agree, this is a situation in which you will want to gamble and get all in on the flop. I think it is likely you are 3/4ing your opponent, and you'd prefer to knock everyone else out.
