\"snakehead\" is just a small fish
I mean snakehead the ecological mini-disaster, not snakehead the player .
Anyway, here is a good link to a related NT Times article. BTW, the author Charles C. Mann had some similar material (excerpted from his upcoming book) in an Atlantic Monthly article, but I'm too turkey tired to look for it. ~ Rick |

Re: \"snakehead\" is just a small fish
Introductionn of exotic species is big problem on the rivers I fish in the west. Fish populations in some western rivers have collapsed due to Whirling disease caused by a metazon parasite that penetrates the head and spine of fingerling trout. The New Zeland mud snail was discovered in the Snake River in the 80s. It is now rapidly spreading throughout the west and is established in 7 western states and 3 national parks.
