Re: Open Raise UTG (Poll)
[ QUOTE ]
my take on the chart is that there are alot of flaws as you mentioned but its still a good tool to get a sense of value in hands. i wouldnt put too much credibility into it thats for sure. if QTs is worth that much more than QJo from UTG i think that says alot for me at least. there is about a .25BB difference between those hands. thats pretty huge. [/ QUOTE ] You mention that QTs is worth .25 more than QJ UTG, and imply that that is signifcant. There is also a .25 BB difference between playing 44 UTG (.16) and playing 44 from MP (-.09). No, that isn't a typo, 44 is better when played in worse position...significantly. The chart may be useful, but use it with EXTREME caution. |

Re: Open Raise UTG (Poll)
86% of you guys raise KJo UTG?
This one really surprised me. I don't think I've ever raised this UTG 6 or even 5 handed. It's just a tough hand to play OOP, especially when you miss. |

[/ QUOTE ] Meh, I don't know enough about you, as I just started posting heavily, but I know enough to know that you are both respected, and considered relatively agro compared to most posters here. Given that, and the fact that you arn't raising KTo, and the fact that I read somewhere that Evan isn't raising KTo, I don't think I will raise KTo UTG. KTo is an easy raise from UTG+1! |

[/ QUOTE ] KTo is usually crap UTG and is not a hand u want to be raising with or be re-raised with. If u want to pop it, raise it on a percentage basis, not as a default. |

[/ QUOTE ] See, this really makes me wonder. I am definately not sure, but at higher limits (where some people at least pay attention) I wonder if the raise UTG garners enough fold equity both pre and post flop to make it more +EV than a raise with the exact same hand one position later. Anyone think this might be true? I know I tend to instinctively fold a few more hands when facing a raise from UTG. |

Re: Open Raise UTG (Poll)
I had trouble with 10/9s and 44. I raise each of those around 50% of the time I would say. I would say they are both generally folds though. All the others (except 27o) I am more then likely to raise.
I dont have a sample at all with only 418 instances of these hands UTG at a 6 person table at 10/20. This is over 60K hands. I can't imagine how long it would take to find out whats profitable UTG. |
