AA on the button preflop - $22 multi
Stars $22 multi that is currently running
Blinds 25/50 UTG (1660) limps, fold, MP1 (1635) limps, fold, MP3 (1090) raises to 150, fold. I have AA and 1330 on the button. I’ve been playing very tight, but I doubt anyone in the hand other than MP1 is good enough to notice. Treat UTG as a typical $22 player and MP3 (raiser) as a small stakes player who is probably in over his head playing a $22 multi. What’s my move and why? Later, Che |

Play the call station, unless something somewhat threatening flops.

Re: AA on the button preflop - $22 multi
I don't want this pot to be 3+ handed and it is possible BB/UTG or MP1 will call along with you if you just call here.
I think I pop it to 450 and get heads up with the LP raiser. This may be enough of a raise to get UTG to take a shot at you with a limp/push but I think you are going to get heads up with LP. Looking for more action I think is playing with fire. Hotrod |

Re: AA on the button preflop - $22 multi
Calling is bad. Unless you'd like a 5-way flop here for some reason.
I'd pop it to at least 500, but I don't think pushing would be terrible here either. |

i raise to 450 because i want to be heads up and i think the raiser will probably call.. then on the flop he's going to have a hard time folding to whatever we do.

Re: AA on the button preflop - $22 multi
A raise to $450 tells the good player your in it with a very good hand. If UTG is going to continue I would suspect he would come over the top, but will fold here. That should leave you HU with the raiser who will call 90% of the time and might even re-raise all-in.

I think that something like this is the best line:
[ QUOTE ] I was small blind and was eventually dealt AA, the UTG went all in, and the dealer also went all in. I figured that I would probably win, but I didn't want to risk it.... [/ QUOTE ] When to fold AA preflop |

Re: AA on the button preflop - $22 multi
Do whatever gets more money in the pot. The idea of Shania is completely useless because no one is paying attention etc so for all I care minreraise if you want.
Why is everyone so concerned with getting it heads up. Sure you lose the pot more often when you get it multi-handed but you also win bigger pots when people cant get away from a pair. There will also be times where you flat call and can get away from it postflop if you think you're behind which also is fine. -jason |

Re: AA on the button preflop - $22 multi
I don't mind it, say, 3 way, but after the blind calls his KJo or whatever, it's gonna be a 5 way 750-ish pot with you having 1200 behind. You're not getting away from anything that isn't a 987 of somebody else's 3 flush.
So I make it 400, take my 600 chips PF and then push the flop and hope he takes me for AK. Works almost as well, anyhow. |
