I imagine good atheist parents want the same thing for their kids that Christians do: happy, healthy, productive lives. If I had kids, I'd want them to stay away from drugs when they're young, learn to be responsible with money, sex, etc., get some good grades, go to college, and lead good, happy lives. If they want to practice religion, that's their decision, and I wouldn't stand in the way.

Do you let your children wander onto railroad tracks so they will learn not to get hit by trains?

That's a really open question. As far as religion goes, I'm going to teach her a little bit about some different religions. I'll also answer questions as to what I think and why.

It doesn't really matter what one teaches their kids. They pick up stuff from their parents neway, and if they want to be religious, they can.

And comparing being atheistic with wandering along railroad tracks is one of the dumbest analogies that could possibly be made.

I'll never understand questions like this.

How would you raise your kids if there were no Santa Clause?

i did some research earlier where i found that only about 16% of the world population does not believe in religon. therefore your child will probally grow up surrounded with religous beliefs. do you let your child pick this up or do you discourage it. for me i think this would have been unhealthy. even though i do not believe in god it gave shape to a lot of my morales.

im sorry my above response may have been unclear. i grew up going to catholic school and for the most part believing in god but my education and life experience changed my mind. therefore my morales where shaped by catholic values along with the upbringing of my parents (who werent paritcularly religious).
