FYP. The fact that this mention gets so little attention is criminal. It is the best of the year so far.

I swear I'll never understand the OOT musical tastes.

what's with all the [censored] hipsters riding the jock of this clown? after the brief amount of research that I've done on him, he seems to be nothing more than Dave Matthews with a banjo.

rock on.

This came out in the early 70's, right?

I dl'ed some songs based on your recommendations. I thought it was pretty good. It reminded me of Jeff Beck's Blow By Blow.

The Inner Mounting Flame - 1971
Birds of Fire - 1973

If you like Mahavishnu Orchestra, you'll probably also like:

WTF is it with people completely dismissing somebody after a "brief amount of research?"

I don't get the obsession over Sufjan either. I may give it another shot. I'm pretty sure my opinion won't change. It's just not my taste I guess.

Here are my top 10 albums. Keep in my these are not my favorite albums of all time, but a list based on many things such as influence, accessibility, and longevity.

10. Built to Spill - Keep it Like a Secret
9. Dismemberment Plan - Emergency and I
8. The Pixies - Surfer Rosa
7. REM - Document
6. Radiohead - OK Computer
5. The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
4. Elliot Smith - XO

Nobody having listed De-Loused in the Comatorium yet sucks. That album is pure gold. Also, Low Level Owl: Volume II (Appleseed Cast) is a better pick than Funeral, for those who have that or anything similiar listed.

I remember reading somewhere (mebbe Q magazine) where they polled a ton of people in the music biz about their favourite albums and what influenced them the most. Marvin Gaye's What's Going On was far and away tyhe most often mentioned.
