A-high flush w trips on board

Got beat twice today holding A-high flush, trips on board. Pocket pair made boat both times.

Do you automatically fold in this situation where opponent shoes strength?

simply sounds like a couple of bad beats to me

to get a better answer post the specific hands
in the appropriate forum (e.g. beginner or micros)
with the accompanying info such as limit you were playing
and player reads

generally,
for one bet on the river
i can't imagine ever folding an Ace flush
even for multiple bets you will likely be calling down

if the board pairs
and you are worried someone already had trips, due to their betting action, then simply call down the river rather than raising.....your read would have to be pretty solid to be folding the flush....better slow down instead of folding

There are TRIPS on the board. I don't think any smaller flush or ace high is going to be betting at this, so you beat precisely zero hands. Fold.

just ignore and yes fold to aggression

....unless....there will be situations where you call down...such as, heads up on the river with a large pot, if you close the action for one bet...you can call (unless versus a very consitent passive player then fold)

Preamble: Mother Theresa raises and you inexplicably call with red 9s. You've been caller her all the way. By the river the board is KhQhJhTh3c giving you the straight flush. You bet and she raises... Do I hear anybody say "You've got a straight flush - ReRaise!!!" No, you should of course fold.

Preamble 2: you don't need a pocket pair to have a full house, just match one of the other cards.

Anybody who says don't lay down the A-flush should not be playing for keeps. With trips on board you can only beat a bluff. This is like 3rd pair on the river when someone suddenly bets. You need a good specific reason to suspect a bluff before you can call. Betting or raising is out of the question, folding is the top option.

PS. One good specific reason is because folks who are willing to bluff are a lot more likely to do so with this board since its so scary. But if there's been action along the way or its multi-player or the other cards are big, check and fold and keep your mouth shut.

totally agree with the idea of only calling for a specific reason.... such as suspecting a bluff

on the reverse side of things
if you were out of position and
HU on the river and the trip card falls

would this be an automatic bet (something akin to Clarkmeister Theorum of betting a four flush HU and out of position??)

....thus a defense is calling down for one bet

Thanks guys. You pretty much hit everything I was thinking about. What concerned me was that it was such an obvious bluffing opportunity for my opponent. I believe I was raising both times, which in retrospect was insane. Check-call next time at most.

And only rarely at that. Both instances, if I remember right, involved low cards as the 4th and 5th cards. Lost to JJ & KK, neither of which I remember showing strength pre-flop.

fold it man, no chance ur winning... and they arent considered bad beats as soon as that trip comes out... think about it if its 7 7 7 X Y somebody can hold a 7, an X, a Y, and then pocket 22-AA to beat you... way too many hands

Had the nut flush with pocket Ace, which I forgot to mention.
