i think that you saved as much money as you could by just calling his re raise... which he would do with trips as well (or possibly do/depends on player). This looks like you got a card that made your hand, and screwed you all at the same time... your call on the turn was correct, as you were getting proper odds, and what did you put him on raising.

I think if you can narrow his possible holdings down, then you better asses wether this is the correct play.

Jackal... could have 2 pair with 9T, could have a baby flush.

Solid... could have set, a double draw, str8 and flush, top pair...

There are times that you just make those crying calls, and you only need to be right in this case 1 out of 13 times on the river, and 1 out 10 times to raise.
