Default A Very Loose Play or not?

In two SnG's last night there were two plays I took some flak for and I was curious as to what others think. the second one is much worse than the first I think. I will post the second in a later post.

HAND 1:
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t50 (8 handed)

Hero (t690)
CO (t1030)
Button (t1160)
SB (t1535)
BB (t1720)
UTG (t2450)
UTG+1 (t3380)
MP1 (t1535)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
UTG calls t50, UTG+1 folds, MP1 folds, Hero calls t50, CO folds, Button raises to t150, SB calls t125, BB folds, UTG calls t100, Hero raises to t690, Button folds, SB folds, UTG folds.

Final Pot: t1190

Default Re: A Very Loose Play or not?

This seems way too loose. The initial call in middle position I think is loose - but then re-reasing to me it leaning on maniacal play. There's good chance you'd get called here, and certainly with a better hand. You may have the shortest stack but only on 25/50 you've got loads of time, I see no reason to jepodise the tounament with such a bluff. Unless you had some great read on all the players involved and were very confident you'd take this down, it seems rather crazy to me :/
