I like the chip denomination rule. It's good to be consistant. I do wisht the $1 would be blue instead of white. It's so much cooler (and gets less dirty)

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, but then my Borgata $10 wouldn't be as oddball and I couldn't use it as a card holder at Foxwoods. (I guess then I'd use a $10 white....)

I've also been told that straddles are prohibted by NJ law.

It seems they're actually more regulated than NV casinos. I do like the thought that I can redeem my chips 30 years after the casino goes under, however.

Atlantic City is much more regulated than Las Vegas. It has actually gotten better over the years though. They used to have a rule that chips could only be purchased at a gaming table and that is how it was with poker back in the 90's. Dealers were constantly asking for fills. I was surprised to find this rule gone when I returned there to play in the last couple of years. Other oddities include the abscence of a drop box for the rake, it just goes back in the dealer tray which is fixed and does not travel with the dealer as I've seen at Turning Stone. Also in the house games area, all blackjack must be dealt face up from a shoe and you cannot bet cash, it must be first changed for chips.

AC has lots of wierd rules, that's one of them

[/ QUOTE ]

True. Another strange AC rule regulates the color of chip denominations. $5 chips MUST be red. $10 have to be blue, and so on. In Vegas, OTOH, casinos seem to have the freedom to do whatever they want with their chip colors. Yes, blackis usually $100 and green $25, etc, but MGM has blue $1's, Aladdin has white $1s...

[/ QUOTE ]

I think in most states the chip colors are: $1- blue or white, $5- red, $25- green, $100- black, $500- purple and so on. it's like that here in oklahoma at every casino, but I don't think it's a state rule because some places have orange $10 chips and some are yellow etc.

Not sure that I believe this, but I understand AC casinos cannot prohibit card counting. (I'm sure they make up for that by leveraging other rules in the house's favor, like restricting what you can split and double down.)

Ballys has possibly the worst dealer/floor combo. It is almost funny how bad they are

U need to get out to see the world more, Turning Stone is not the center of the universe. Many casinos don't have a drop box for the rake, its not that odd. Also the dealers cards are not delt face up as you claimed.

MaxPower, Mosch, and myself decided to get drunk and play every hand when Resorts opened it's poker room (actually not a room, it was a roped off area) last spring. The floor there told us a live straddle was legal in Atlantic City, but the floor people at their competitors claim it was not for their own reasons while blaming it on Casino Control. I don't know if he was correct, but I can tell you I was a lot of live straddles in that game.

They don't allow live stradles at the Borg, and the floor person there said it was because of the NJGC.
