Yeah, that's the first thing I thought when the cards were turned over. Sometimes AQ runs into AK. Wutcha gonna do.

Hum, AJ would be his ideal holding because your behind or splitting with any other calling ACE.

This is one of those situations where you are are pretty well pot committed and have no way out. Raising with AQ with 12xBB is basically going to pay AK of unless the flop comes K25 or something.

How much more should he bet on the flop? If he got raised after betting more on the flop would he fold or would he still be all in? If he was going to be all in anyway, should he just go all in on the flop?

I think he should just go all in. Typically I would value bet here of about half the pot. That kind of bet most certainly commits him for the rest of the hand with top pair so he should push.
