Default Fantasy Football Help

I got dragged into this after week 1 because a friend needed a spot filled by someone who bailed, and I seriously know very little about football. In a 4 team league so theres lots of players available who've done well the first two weeks. We get an add drop right now and and add drop at week 8. For this one we can make 3 changes. Im pretty sure its standard scoring.

Which 3 do you drop?

S Culpepper, Daunte - QB, MIN
S Alexander, Shaun - RB, SEA
S Barber, Tiki - RB, NYG
S Horn, Joe - WR, NO
S Johnson, Chad - WR, CIN
S Gonzalez, Tony - TE, KC
S Akers, David - K, PHI
S Def/Spec Team, Falcons - TM, ATL
B Collins, Kerry - QB, OAK
B Plummer, Jake - QB, DEN
B Brown, Ronnie - RB, MIA
B James, Edgerrin - RB, IND
B Jones, Kevin - RB, DET
B Bennett, Drew - WR, TEN
B Johnson, Andre - WR, HOU
B Moss, Santana - WR, WAS
B Crumpler, Alge - TE, ATL
B Stover, Matt - K, BAL
B Def/Spec Team, Steelers

I was thinking Ronnie Brown and Matt Stover. Allthough the spread between Stover and best kicker probably isnt as wide as some improvements i could make in other areas. For a third drop I dont even know where to start.

Some available QB's are Dilfer, Hasselback, Bledsoe, Favre, Roethlisberger

Some availabe RB's are Stephen Davis, Carnell Williams, Thomas Jones,

Some available WR's are Jimmy Smith, Keenan McCardell, Terry Glenn

Some available Kickers are Shayne Grahame, Lawrence Tynes, Neil Rackers, Jeff Reed, Rian Lindell.

Thanks

How many at each positition? I don't think it going to matter. Although, I would probably try to pick up C. Williams.

If you can only carry 5 rbs then I might reconsider picking up Williams. I still might for Brown but I would do a little more research first.

I think it hardly matters who you pick up because this/these teams are already so strong I don't see playing any FA you mentioned. I would start with the basic idea of these guys as my starters and adjust for matchups(esp. considering no huge drop-off of talent level to backups)
QB Culpepper
RB Alexander
RB James
WR Horn
WR C. Johnson
TE Gonzalez
DEF Steelers
K no idea/greatly influenced by matchup

Why would you be hesitant to drop an unproven rookie for one who has already proven himself?

I've seen both of these guys enough before this year to know they are comparable talents.

I would look at the matchups/schedule they have coming up. Seeing if their best matchups come at a time that I might actually use one of them instead of Alexander, James, Barber, etc.

What is important here is not nec. getting the one that is going to have the best overall year, but the one that you can use to help you the most.

With all that said, also take into consideration, that Brown may be getting less carries with more competition. Like I said it would, def. require some more research, but in the end I suspect I would be taking Williams for Brown

you'd have to be brain dead not to immediately recognize that williams is a far superior fantasy player.

this has little to do with fantasy football. you're not evaluating them as a gm deciding which will help your team, you're evaluating which one will put up better fantasy numbers on the team he is on, and the answer isn't close.

You assume way to much
You have no idea how this league is scored
For example do you get a point per reception

Bottom line is that with Alexander, James, Barber, etc.
You won't be playing either of these very often
The points they put up are more determined by opportunity, their line and the defence they are playing than talent.

I am not going to do the research for it, but if while you A list guys are on bye, get hurt, or have extremely tough matchups
You have a choice between
Williams playing the top rated run defence &
Brown playing the worst rated run defence

I'd be wanting Brown against the sorry D

It doesn't matter if Williams gets 100 more fantasy points than Brown. What matters is the one or two weeks you start them who gets the most points. It is very feasible that, that could be Brown.

Cadillac's trade value alone makes him worth taking over Ronnie Brown.
