Because he's a scared pansy who doesn't want to risk giving up a hit to get an out, he'd rather slow down a game that already takes over three hours trying a play that works about 1 % of the time.

Usually one or two throws isn't booed, but when the guy keeps throwing over a million times he'll get booed. Drives me crazy when my own team does it.

Plus, you take whatever chance you can to boo the opposing team.

He's not trying to throw the guy out a good percentage of the time.

I realize he's generally trying to hold the runner (or waste time for a reliever to warm up). He still shouldn't need to do it four times before every pitch.

I've seen a man get picked off first base with the bases loaded (Willie Davis, circa 1969), but that was a straight move to first base. I've never seen the fake-to-third-and-throw-to-first move work. Twice in one season, wow.

Personally, I love to see the opposing pitcher pre-occupied with the runner on first, and not focusing on the hitter. Bring it on.

Why boo when the visiting team picture throws over to first?

Because one drunken fan did it, and then the row started doing it, and then the section started doing it, and then the whole stadium, and then it got showed on sportscenter, and then stuart scott was like "whazz up with that dog?" and then the whole nation started doing it, and now no one knows why.
