Default Appts in Las Vegas

Any Las Vegans have advice on what general area's to get an apartment? Assume I can afford anything $1,100 and less. Or even areas to stay away from would be of help, specific appt buildings would be even better! Thanks.

I lived in Copper Creek Apartments while my house was being built (which took nearly 2 years). It is in the South part of town, which I prefer (Silverado Ranch area). It's a nice, safe area. I paid about $700 per month for a one bedroom.

I would avoid any apartments near downtown, or Maryland parkway.

It's relatively fast to get from almost anywhere in the Vegas valley to the strip. 20 minutes tops. This isn't a city like LA where your location could mean you're driving an hour to get somewhere.

I really need to move to Vegas. This cements that in my mind.

Yeah I know, party the reason I am probably moving there. I am taking a pay raise, playing 25% less on rent and living withing 15 minutes of some of the juciest middle limit holdem games in the world. I don't see how I can't do this.

I hear that. I pay $700/mo for my parking. PLUS - it's 2 hours to the nearest game.

But at least the weather sucks here.

The ONLY reason I haven't moved there yet is I feel like I'd miss my friends and family alot. That's a big move for me - someone who doesn't usually take life risks like that off the felt. I'd love to give it a two month trial to see if I like it, but unfortunately you can't hit the pause button on life.

Also, I'd be afraid I'd have trouble making friends there and would spend ALL of my free time in casinos because of it. Not necessarily a bad thing but...

I live in Henderson and I like it alot. You'll have no problems finding a place for $1,100 as long as you don't have ridiculous expectations. I pay less than $900 for an 1,100+ square foot two-bedroom apartment with a little balcony and easy access to casinos, shopping, libraries and all that good stuff.

You want to avoid most areas with things like "North" in their name and suspiciously low-priced stuff right near the strip.
