Default Representing big pairs with small bets

Certain plays late in a tournament are supposed to be likely to be big pairs. Limping and miniraising from ealry position, and making miniraises are among these. This is particularly true if the bet is a fairly large proportion of your stack. Do people find it is effective to use these plays when you don't have big pairs to represent big pairs?

It's risky to do this against people that might not give you credit. I use these moves, albiet sparingly
