jason_t v. jgorham #2
The game might be 6-handed at the point but I can't remember. jgorham open raises on the Button and I call in the BB with black Q8o.
Flop: K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] I check, jgorhamn bets, I call. Turn: 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I check, jgorham checks. River: J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I bet |

Re: jason_t v. jgorham #2
i would checkfold the river. jack is a bad card. i dont think ace high will fold often enough and the only hand youre beating at this point is 9high. just check and hope he gives up with a weaker hand.

[/ QUOTE ] I agree. With such a small pot I don't think we are taking this down enough times to justify a bet. |

Re: jason_t v. jgorham #2
I have been thinking about this one, and I like the river bet a lot. I am going to call or raise a turn donk bet a lot with A high, because the board just isn't that scary (obviously combined with your action). But the J on the river is the perfect card to bet at, as it is one more card in your range, and improves a lot of hands that call the KKT flop.
I really thought that was a good flop for my hand, especially when you check called me. But the J on the end is really a scare card for me in this small pot (assuming I have A high). |

Re: jason_t v. jgorham #2
jason, entity and i were talking about this hand and entity said he liked a turn donk. he said he would make this play with a pair very often and i do like that line with a pair. however, if i was in your situation with ace high and was against jasont i would very likely call down acehigh as long as your kicker is decent. entity thinks you would have folded but your reply here confirms my suspicions. however, i also have no idea how you play but i know how i would.

Jgorham is a newb. Jason, Triple check raise him.
Edit: He's my brother. |

More thoughts
This didn't occur to me at the table, but it should have. That J counterfeits any kicker to an ace. Meaning there is no way I can call without a pair here as I am chopping to most of your bluffs anyway, and the rest of the time you are winning the pot with your T, J or pocket pair.
And I can't raise a river bet, because I would have bet the turn with any hand I would raise the river with. And since I have A high here a good amount of the time, this is a +ev bet. |

maybe its just because I'm too tired, maybe I'm terrible in blind d situations but I don't understand the flop call

maybe its just because I'm too tired, maybe I'm terrible in blind d situations but I don't understand the flop call [/ QUOTE ] I called the flop with the intention of owning him later in the hand. This wasn't a "let's see who has bigger balls" kind of play, it was a thought out plan because a flop call from me on that board in this spot is extremely scary. My intention was to fold to a turn bet but bet most rivers if he checks behind. Also, there's a great chance my pair outs are good. |
