$80-160. I openraised on the button with pocket nines. The small blind folded and the big blind called. I estimate his rate of calling here at 50%. And he almost never threebets against me in this spot, even with big pairs and big aces.
The flop was K-10-2 rainbow. He checked, I bet, he called. The turn was a jack. He checked and I checked. The river was a queen. He checked and I checked. He showed pocket sixes. |

Re: 99
Not sure how he plays postflop, but if he can call down light, isn't there a river value bet/fold?

Re: 99
are you folding the river if he bets? can he ever bet the river without an ace?

Re: 99
i like it till the river. he'll call w/ set/2pair etc. and if he check calls the nuts, good for him.
i usually bet idiot straights when checked to by the player you describe. unless he really fears you (i.e. drives your probability of holding the winner when called down well below 50%. or he would set you up here, where if he doesn't fold, the ONLY other act would be a c'r, which you now have to fold to) id say value bet. Re: 99
Did you check because you didn't think he'd call with a worse hand often enough, or did you do it for metagame reasons?

Re: 99
Most people bet the river in his spot if they have the ace. You should bet the river! The rest of the hand i like the way you played it.

Barron [/ QUOTE ] I actually think Tommy is correct in chekking this river. The calling hands you mention are not likely given the action and he might even c/r with them a good portion of the time. The pot is to small to give him that upportunity. |
