And is raising with AK from the big blind the best choice for all players in all games at all times?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes. Seriously, it is.

Congratulations, you've just given away a good deal of information every time you're in the BB. I'm sure that a game with a bunch of observant pros won't be able to exploit that.

[/ QUOTE ]what the hell are you talking about?

I entered on the big blind and I got the ace-king of hearts. Two players limped, the small blind called, I checked.

I am not good and not smart. Maybe that is why I cannot figure out how this is not awful.

They won't because u raise here with hands like 99 and higher, AJs, Aq, and KQ and maybe KJs as well.

[/ QUOTE ]

That's my point. That's a lot of hands they can eliminate if you don't raise from the BB.

Congradulations, you're wrong. Sure, it might HELP with hand reading I guess but it's surely not an exploitable condition. I'm sure most players are raising plenty of hands from the bb and therefor making himself plenty hard to read.

My point is simply this: there could conceivably be a game where you would never raise from the BB with anything, because the value of deception was high enough that it trumped raising-for-value considerations, especially preflop.
