American Idol thread for week of 5/17

3 songs tonight, judges pick one song for each contestant, Clive Davis (special guest and record company poo-bah) picks one song for each contestant, and the contestants each pick a song for themselves.

So far the following has been confirmed ( http://et.tv.yahoo.com/micro/idol/20...nidol_preview/ )

Carrie -> "Man, I feel like a woman" (Shania Twain, Judges pick) and "Cryin" (Roy Orbison, Clive's pick)

Bo -> "(Can't get no) Satisfaction" (Roling Stones, Judges pick) and "Don't let the sun go down on me" (Elton John, Clive's pick)

Vonzell -> "On the radio" (Donna Summer, Judges pick) and "I'll never love this way agin" (Dionne Warwick, Clive's pick)

Bo performed "Sweet Home Alabama" during his hometown concert this week, here is a direct link to the footage ( http://webpages.charter.net/peipers/Bo%20Bice.wmv ) I'm really hoping he sings this song as his choice tonight as I think he'd kill with it.

Yes, at several different sites. There are a number of 2+2'rs who have quite a bit at stake.

Yeah, there may be a few 2+2'ers betting on this. If BO wins, it covers my Vegas WSOP expenses. If he loses - he's a***ing bum! {typical gambler, huh?}

I'm not a big fan of Bo but taking that chance and nailing it makes him safe this week and gets him a shot next week IMO.

As for the other two, I think Carrie was better the first song but Vonzell was better the second song.

I start with the idol forums and television without pity forums to find the early rumors and then try to confirm them through google, etc (often the early rumors are wrong). Often confirmation will come through the entertainment tonight website or through local fox TV affiliates. For example I knew Carrie was going to do Man I feel like a woman a few days ago thanks to KOTV in Tulsa OK

Anyways, I thought Bo won the night hands down. Satisfaction was probably his weakest spot, but it was still decent. I thought Carrie was weak in the middle of her middle song (I didn't catch the name) but she did pretty good with Cryin and Man I feel like a woman. Vonzell's first song was rough, but thought she did very well with her second and third songs so overall Carrie and Vonzell were probably about equal tonight.

If there is really only a 1% difference between the three contestants the extra phone lines are going to favor Bo and Carrie, so most likely Vonzell will be leaving tomrrow (especailly since she had the weakest song of the night with her first number, IMHO).
