Default Borgata Poker Comp Change?

So I was down at the Borgata on Thursday night into Friday, and I sat down at a 3/6 game while on the list for 6/12. Clocked in at 3/6, moved to 6/12, and clocked out after about 10 hours. Made sure they had me logged right when I left to ensure I got the poker rate. Cool.

So, I'm leaving and I had the desk girl call the Poker Room to reduce the rate, which she did, and told her to use whatever comps were on the card against the charges as well. "No comps on the card." Should have been around $10 on there.

I asked her if there was a change in comp policy for poker, but she didn't know and I didn't have time to go downstairs as I was already running late. I stuck the card in a slot machine and sure enough, no comp $$$.

I wasn't arguing for the $10, but the rate's always been the same for 3/6 and 6/12, so I didn't bother making sure they knew I moved.

Anyone know if something changed and they don't comp 3/6 anymore, or dropped the rate or something else? I can't imagine that they could have the time on record and not put the comps on the card, unless the policy changed or there was some kind of glitch in the system somewhere.

sometimes its taken mine some time to show up on the card. Have you checked since you got back to see if that might be the case?

I just checked on their website and sure enough, they are on there. I've never had that happen before (and I've clocked out later than this), so that's what got me wondering.

Now I've got a good excuse to go back in a couple months (as if I needed another one)!!! Thanks.

There is something like a 12-24 hour delay before comps are available for use (after you clock out).

I have found it depends when you clock out. I know they do a sync with the main comp system at around 6 A.M. in the morning (the start of the new casino day), so sometime after that you should see the comps. It kind of is a scam that the points are not immediately available for your use.

I wouldn't necessarily call it a scam...just a poorly designed computer system that doesn't sync the poker time system with the comp system all that well. That may be by design, but in the grand scheme of things, poker players aren't earning all that much in comps anyway, so they're not really saving a ton by making the money unavailable for a while.

In any case, I've always thought 6:00 AM was the magic time. If you were out by then, they showed up soon. In this case, I clocked out at around 3:30 AM or so and they weren't there at 10:00. In the past I have clocked out around 7:00 and still had them in there when I checked out.

Oh well, no matter. They are there now, and I've got free dinner at NOW waiting for next time I go down.

The only reason I called it a scam was that the only way for you to use the comps is to come another time, and to use the comps you accumulated that day is to come another time, etc. if the comps are not in your account. I have reserve comps so it doesn't affect me, but it would affect low limit players more as the food/merchandise in the Borgata is not cheap compared to the Taj, for instance.

Understood. Could be by design for exactly the reason you mentioned. On that note, what is the time frame that they will expire? Is it 180 days?
