Default Note taking during Live play(not online)

I WAS TOLD I MIGHT GET SOME RESPONSES FROM THIS FORUM, I DON'T REALLY KNOW WHERE TO POST IT.

I am currently in a sustained downswing, and I am in the process of trying to fix my leaks. At this time the only $$ games I play are live. I play online at PSO. Havin said all that, I get to the point.

DOES ANYONE HAVE A BASIC TEMPLATE FOR RECORDING CARDS PLAYED IN A LIVE (NON-ONLINE) GAME? I HAVE TRIED A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT TIMES FOR SOMETHING USABLE, BUT HAVE YET TO FIND ANYTHING THAT WORKS.

PLEASE ADVISE.

What I am really looking for is basically an simple template that I can use. If anyone happens to have anthing along those lines please pmail me.

Default Re: Note taking during Live play(not online)

I played for a week recently in Vegas and all I did was bring 3 x 5s and a couple of pens to the cardroom. When I sat down at a new game, at the top of a blank card I noted casino, date, parking garage area (the brain, she is tired after live play ), limit, and buy-in. After I played noteworthy hands -- wins as well as losses, which I tend to remember very selectively -- I jotted down as many details as I needed. Every hour or so, I would take a little walk and note my stack size and any relevant game conditions without the live game and players to distract me. At the end of the session, I noted the final $ result at the top of the first card (I tended to go through a few, which I numbered along with the casino and the date so I could keep them in order). I also made some summary points at that point in most cases.

I honestly believe you don't need anything more elaborate than this. Just make your mind up as to what data you want to retain, and dedicate yourself to recording it in full each time, and it will become a habit. I should also add that precisely one person during the week made any mention of my note taking, and in a supportive light.

Dr. Alan Schoonmaker has a trio of articles on note taking on Card Player's site that are worth reading.
