Default Promoting Other Games

I have two questions I would like to pose.

First, do you think the sites would benefit by promiting games other than Texas Holdem?

I think they would and the argument would basically be that there must be some percentage of the recreational players who have stopped playing because they got bored with it. Some percentage of the bored folks would have kept playing if they knew more about other games. Whether this percentage is big enough to make promoting the other games profitable is really the question.

Second, what could the sites do to promote other games?

I basically came up with two ideas. One, they could award more frequent player points for those games, perhaps just for a week or so. This would benefit the bonus whore types at least which might not be the best way to promote the games to the recreational players.

Second, they could have the their name players host some of those new games. This, I think, would be relatively cheap since I'm sure the sites have an agreement with those players to play a certain number of hours at their tables. It would just cost some time and effort to promote the fact that the name player would be hosting a game.

Thoughts?
