The origin of the word cliche.
Its an old french word for clamp.
During the days of the printing press commonly used phrases were kept clamped so the printer did not have to waste time putting all the letters of that particular phrase into a clamp before printing could commence. Tommorrow the origins of the Cliche "Son of a gun". Is "I am bored" a cliche yet? |

Re: The origin of the word sabotage
French workers would clog machines with their wooden shoes (or sabots) thus committing sabotage.
