Default simple(for some), but I need some help

I got a question that comes up every few hands or so and I still don't know what the heck to do. If you could explain yourself that would be great - rather than just replying call or fold.

Ill just give two examples, so you know what I'm talking about.

#1: Hero is on Button with 57s. UTG raises, MP 1 calls, MP+2 folds, Co CALLs, HERO???

#2: Hero is SB with 24o. UTG folds, MP 1 call, MP2 calls, Co calls.

And countless other vcariations. How do I decide what to do?? Thanks for helping me out with my noobish question.

Hand 1: I think is very marginal. You'll probably have the BB come along, giving you 4:1 with position. One gap is much weaker than a pure suited connector though. I think it is -EV unless you're against the right opponents and you play well post flop. As a noob you should probably stay away from it.
Just to elaborate regarding your opponents--are they passive? Will they charge you the max when you are drawing? Do free card plays usually work?

Hand two: I think too weak--fold. mabye 67o+ you can toss a chip in getting 8.5:1 but OOP.

Hand 1 is a marginal call for me IF I know the blinds are loose-passive and will come along without raising. Obviously I'm looking for a really good flop.

Hand 2 is a fold. 24o can't make anything, basically.

HAND 1:
A hand like 75s must have substantial implied odds to become worthwhile. Having to pay two preflop bets instead of one largely destroys these.

HAND 2:
There are practically no flops that will really make you happy with this hand. I think it is a must fold.

I fold hand 1 and complete hand 2 only in a 2/3 blind structure.
