Default AA; gotta raise the turn, right?

I don't post a ton of hands, because I find it hard to go through so many of them and pick out specific ones for questions. But here's a fairly simple one from last night.

I gotta raise the turn, right?

The myriad of callers scared me a bit, until the river came, and I saw the calling as a sign of weakness rather than strength.

Raise the flop and see what happens from there.

Oh wow. I didn't even notice that I hadn't raised the flop. Looking back over the hand I took it for granted that I had.

Damn, now I just look stupid.

I think I was guilty here of a horribly incorrect application of the "wait until the turn to protect" theory. Should I not feel the need to "protect" an over pair against a very coordinated board? And if everyone's going to be a calling station to UTG, then I suppose they'll have the odds to call 1 more on the turn anyways?

Is this a correct analysis?

It's not possible to protect your hand on this particular deal. Just bet for value.
