Default Did we miss a Mike Matasow blow-up?

Remember the day when the Sheik slammed the table after he had folded and MM and SS both got a timeout? Does anyone else remember how the hand played out? MM went over the top after a raise with an all in raise while he was steaming after just using the F-word. He had a very large stack and what would have happened if his opponent actually had caught a real hand? That could have been the all time MM blow-up.

The board was A high there and in an interview on CardPlayer Matusow said he had QJ offsuit. You could be right.

IMO the vaunted MMB is mostly self-promotion and bluster. He plays very solid for periods of time, then has a let-down. 99% of the poker pros out there do the same thing, but Mike has a strong enough personality (and talks so much smack) that his mistakes are hilighted.

Seeing every star-struck Internet qualifier who sat at MM's table ask, "Have you had your Mike Matasow blow-up yet?" was tiring.

Sure, we all have our blow-ups but he seems to do it often enough in large tourneys that it really is a thing of beauty. In the hand I mentioned above there was no good reason for him to go AI with that flop and after a raise and especially considering that he was extrmemly angry right then. He put his entire tourney on the line on that bluff and if his oppenent had an ace and a high kicker he easily could have been gone and SS would have been gloating.

I think, even through his fuming at Sheik, Matusow was able to read that Kessler was making a move, or at least wasn't willing to call off his whole stack with whatever he had.

And IIRC he had him covered at the time, so it wouldn't have ended his tournament. But it definitely would have been a memorable moment.

You dont' understand. What he's trying to say is that MM "seeming" to have many blowups are a small kernel of truth magnified by the way ESPN shows it to us. We really don't know if he blows up 'all the time' or jsut a few times that happen to be aired all the time.

MM and even hellmuth happen to have poker friends. Do you really think they're an [censored] all the time like they are shown as? Its in thier best interest, from a buisness standpoint and a showboating standpoint, to make a good show.

And I think Matusow would've been so pissed that he would have killed Sheik in an auto accident on a rainy night in a German-engineered sports car. Ha ha ha ha!!!
