Why does everyone assume that villian doesn't have a higher
pocket pair? A lot of players, and I'm not advocating this strategy, will flat call raises with big pocket pairs. It's incorrect to assume that villian can't have a bigger pair. Having said that, without any reads, if we put villian on a range of hands, smaller pocket pairs through Aces, and AK, and AQ I would reluctantly call. Bruce |

(Though if I'm on the button and think it will get us head's up, I sometimes like smooth-calling, and asking OR to make his dark tunnel bluff.) |
