Default the mysterious bet-call-bet play

no read on villain. The probe bet + call confused me. The push on the turn confused me even more. Thoughts?

This is typically signs of an overpair (or maybe A8 or 22). But you are behind. Fold the turn.

I would tend to agree.
However, I was thoroughly confused and couldn't make myself respect such a strange play, so I called. He flipped kj and I won. However, looking back... I still think it's an easy fold and I'm disappointed with myself for calling.

I'm not folding this, bets don't make sense.. call preflop indicates he probably doesn't have a pair higher than your 7's.. bet on the flop indicates he probably doesn't have an 8, overbet on the turn looks like he's trying to represent something and wants you to fold.
