sending word pad documents as an attached file

I recently lost my harddrive and had to reformat and I lost microsoft word. I had my resume saved on my email so I downloaded it and now it appears as a wordpad document.

If I email wordpad documents will it open as a word document or a wordpad document? In general if you send a wordpad document will it be opened with word on a computer that has that program installed?

Anyone with Word should have no problem opening a WordPad document. But you should know that some if not all of your Word formatting will be lost and it might just appear as an unformatted text file.
