Default Ruh Roh

Stars $650 for Atlantis

About 1 hour in give or take

I have QQ in MP and 3300.

UTG limps 50

EMP (covers) raises to 200

I make it 550 to go.

UTG folds, EMP calls

Flop (1225) 479r

EMP checks, I bet 1000

EMP puts me all in.

Ruh Roh, I feel like I'm in a leg hold trap.

I have 1650 left (33BBs), the pot is 4900.

Getting 3-1 is beautiful, but if he has AA/KK, I am buried and not getting the right price.

I can play with 33BBs, but I'd rather have more.

Does he do this w/ 88,TT,JJ, bluff, enough for me to RISK MY TOURNAMENT LIFE!!!!

I raised PF to better define my opponents hands. I want to know if UTG is messing around limping a big pair, and if EMP pushes over top of my raise, I'll have a decision to make, but if he flat calls, I can usually be sure I'm ahead.

Now I'm not so sure.

Regards,
Woodguy

If he were me, you'd be dead because I'd have AA or KK.

But, he's not me. And this is a satellite in which a very small % of players get paid. I think this move is made by enough players getting fancy with AK or 88, plus the chance he's got JJ or TT to make this a call.

I'm wincing when I do it. But I call.

Let's ignore 88 as I don't think that's too likely and just focus on TT-AA. I can easily see TT-QQ playing this way. I think AA is a little more likely than KK (and both a little less likely than TT-QQ). I also don't think it's too likely to be up against a set. So all things considered I think you're slightly ahead of his range and I'd make the call. Even putting 99 back in his range and you're still 50/50 with odds.

Yup, that's pretty much it.

I agree with the rest of the lot. Even though I very often play AA/KK (especially AA) exactly like this with these stacks, I don't think you're beat 75% of the time here. Makes me want to puke a little but I'd have to call.

Default Results, Thoughts

I go into my time bank a little, puke in my mouth a little, and call.

He shows JJ, turn and river blank, MHIG.

With Adanthar's post about TOURMANENT LIFE , and the fact that I liked that Scooby and Shaggy picture, I thought this hand would be a good combo of both.

Can't fold in that spot, and I was lucky to win, but if we give the villian the range of JJ-AA only, I'm a 2-1 dog and getting the right price.

Woodguy

low flop, high pair situations are pretty much dictated by the pot odds unless you have a good read.. getting 3:1 this is an easy call as you are really only worrying about 2 hands that would raise preflop and be this bold on the flop.. I think I'm calling with 2:1, and anything less I'd have to really think about it.. This format, arguably, pulls you in both directions.. only about 5% of entries get a seat , but you have 30 minute levels.
