EI once did gigs (maybe even a tour?) in France - to the French I'll add - with only some very basic French, and they still laughed, even though he was asking the audience for the French for really fundamental words like 'spoon' to continue his routine.

THAT is a funny man.

plus he must have balls of iron to get up in front of an audience speaking a language he's not too good at, and attempt to do a gig.

Absolutely hilarious. Though, if you aren't at least somewhat well versed in history, political science etc. there's a lot of his stuff that will go over your head.
