IMO most Villains won't dump it on the turn after just seeing a flop cap, especially against unknowns they just sat down with, so pushing this is necessary. If you were worried about scaring him, why not bet-3bet the flop? IMO I'd do this anyways because you're c/ring one person on a board that's shown no aggression thus far.

If he had posted in the CO here and checked instead of limped (you said it was his first hand?), I think I'd raise pf.

Although I suppose it would save time if you waited for a non-5, non-6 turn to do it.

I don't think we're afraid of 5's and 6's here, I think the reason for calling the flop would be to CR the turn, regardless of what fell. he could be 3-betting 75, 76 which is a pretty solid line, although only 8 combinations of those hands are out there.

why did we checkraise the flop? what reason do we have to think the CO will bet? I know why but I"m surprised no one's brought it up.

my take on the hand is that the guy is an idiot who bought in for $50 and he doesn't have anything but two big cards. i think he was re-raising on the flop just trying to get away with the pot. i would check a set on the flop here to somebody like him figuring he'll probably play at the weak flop and my weak check.

This hand really doesn't need this much discussion. Betting or checking isnt changing much. The guy most likely didn't have [censored] because no one who short buys is making a stellar laydown because the flop was capped. He most likely wasn't even betting the turn when checked to. That whole studying bit was a bunch of posturing. Just tell your brother not to check sets when he flops them and only has one person left to act behind him.
