Default question about raising

in a 1-2 NL game, blinds are posted and someone raises to $16 (a $14 raise). Is the minimum reraise making it $30 (raising again $14 more) or $32 (doubling the $16 that the guy has in front). I ask because i wanted to raise to 40 last night at the taj but i only put out 30. Dealer made me take it back because I didn't double the $16. Now that I think about it, wasn't i only required to raise the $14? Similarly (and according to the taj floorman)...if someone bets 50, and another guy raises to 100, the next bet has to be 200 not 150. This is different than online rules right?

Dealer is wrong. Floorman is wrong. You are right.

Either they are wrong or you misunderstood them.

I'd be very suprised if a Taj floorman didn't know NL rules.

Some places have this rule, but it is uncommon. A lot of oldtimers whose opinion I respect prefer this rule. I believe someone (RIck N maybe?) mentioned some time ago that this is the rule at Hawaiian Gardens.
