"Odds of getting "paid off" (namely, a halfway decent cup of coffee) for $6 at Starbucks = pretty much 1-to-1"

If that's what determined who won the WSOP, Alan Boston would've been a lock.

Are any of the betting exchanges opening their markets again? I would seriously try hedge some of that bet if I were you.

Good luck.

even though they gave those guys horrible odds, they're gonna be so screwed if they have to actually pay people who bet on these big names.

[/ QUOTE ]

They will make so much money on the people who bet on Dan N, Howard L., Fossilman, etc. etc. etc. etc. that they can afford to pay off those who bet on Ivey.

[/ QUOTE ]

you are aware that the tournament isn't over, right?

edit: fossilman is still in it

[/ QUOTE ]

You are familiar with how these things work, aren't you? Ivey and Fossilman cannot both win. Therefore if Fossilman wins, the money they made from people betting on Ivey et all will be used to pay the winner who bet on the other horse, and vice-versa. Assuming people bet roughly equally on each player (weighted to the amount they must pay given a win) they are almost guaranteed to make money so long as enough people bet on the event.
