Re: Someone tried to convince me that Barry Sanders is not the greatest
come on sweetness was better, and any old dude will tell you that nobody was better than Jim Brown. Barry could make people miss, but sweetness could make them miss AND run over them.
There is a strong case that Earl Campbell in his prime (which was very short) was the best ever. All this depends on how you define greatness....was it who had the best pure ability for any one season, or who had the best pure ability over the course of a career....i'm not sure barry sanders would be considered the 'best' in any of these contests. |

And while he was a great power runner, his lateral movement and ability to make people miss was always highly underrated. But as you said, his career was just too short. |

Re: Someone tried to convince me that Barry Sanders is not the greates
yeah, how about the classic clip where he is running a sweep, cuts upfield and cracks the sternum of the middle linebacker when he runs over him...that's classic.

Re: Someone tried to convince me that Barry Sanders is not the greates
Jim Brown was and is the best there ever will be. Walter Payton was pretty damn good as well.
Although Barry could break one on you at any time. He could kill a drive getting trapped behind the line. |
