How did a $10 tournament with only 180 people give out an $11,000 package? Everybody would have to rebuy like 6 times.

The tournament, which begins Thursday, will involve more than 6,600 players who either qualified by winning a satellite tournament or paid the $10,000 entry fee.

the reporter clearly did his homework, except it is caped at 6600

Apparently none of you are 65 years old. If you're 22 and you play poker professionally, $11K and a WSOP entry are the same. If you're 65 and play poker recreationally, they're a lot different. This guy would never go to the WSOP on his own.

I hope he doesn't think he won $11K and a WSOP seat.

Can't believe none of you put value on the enjoyment and experience of going to the WSOP over some simple cash, guess with everyone playing online no one really loves the game anymore, it's just a job.

I assume he just didn't realize you could buy in for $10K. I don't know how he thought you could get in, but I can't see how a seat is worth more than $10K to anyone when it's only $10K to buy in directly.

Maybe if he wouldn't have spent the $10K, it lets him "splurge" without feeling irresponsible about the money.
