without looking at any of the links:

the recent Mel Gibson movie 'Maverick' is a remake of the old TV show Maverick starring James Garner.

My grandmother encouraged me to watch this show when I was 10 years old and we were staying at her place in Wisconsin for 2 or 3 weeks over summer vacation.
Hardly realized she was launching me into a poker-career by letting me watch those 1 am re-runs.

Reminds me of when the girl from MTV was at the premier of "Mission Impossible" movie and she says to Martin Landau "You mean there was a television series?"
