Yet another ruling question - Dealer ends the action?
Prairie Meadows (Des Moines, IA), it's a very common 3/6 game on a Thursday night, the floor is running all over trying to finish the Thurs tourney and keep the cash games rolling.
The Button raised pre-flop, and has represented an overpair all the way to the river. On the river, I fill in a straight and check to the button. The button bets, one caller, and I throw out 2 reds and 2 whites for a raise . . . The dealer promptly gathers the chips, and the button turns over his hand - the dealer has not audibly asked for the hands yet - showing AA. I state immediately, "Wait - I raised . . . " The dealer agrees, admitting that she saw the raise but 'it didn't connect' in her mind, but that she is 100% sure that $12 was the bet from me. The floor is called. The floor is immediately confused, and apparently doesn't know the answer - after asking for the situation three times, he scratches his head, then appears to come to a conclusion. The floor rules that the dealer has 'closed the action' by gathering the chips into the pot, and that I should be refunded $6 and show down in turn. Was this the correct ruling? I couldn't have cared less about the 2 bets, compared to the disaster that is the floor having no clue how to rectify the situation and apparently making it up on the spot - did he get it right though?

A lot of how to rule in this spot depends on the players and dealer involved and the description given. You have the right to raise and the button must protect his hand; however, if it appears that you stalled to see the button's hand before complaining you shoudl just get your $6 back. In general the button should be forced to call the raise or fold, but with the right set of players and dealer the floor could be correct to refund the $6.

It would be easier to identify a raise if you audibly said, "Raise," when you threw in your chips. However, given the circumstances, I can see how the floor might make this decision. The dealer collecting the chips + the player flipping his cards may be constituted as "sufficient action" to nullify your raise.

Your raise should stand. A dealer error does not end the action. The other players in the should also have been paying attention. The players have the option to call/reraise in turn. The fact one player exposed his cards is irrelavant. It happened after your raise, and he can still call if he chooses.
