Default Can anyone compare the new JB Paulsons to the NJ Martini Club?

Im debating if I should go with the Mardi Gra from Holempokerchips or if I should go with the Paulson. Considering price will be nearly the same, which way should I go. I really like the non-denom aspect of the Mardi Gras but I like the Paulson aspect of the Paulson.

Do these chips even compare?

I have samples of both here, and in my opinion the NJ Martini Club clays are better. Quality wise they are both very nice chips, but looks wise, for the most part, I like the NJs better.

There are some chip colors/combinations on the Paulsons that I REALLY love, but overall I lean towards the NJs. (Actually I like the "Nevada" mold and colors the best of all 3)

the jb's are nicer, by a longshot. the NJ chips have a vinyl feel that never goes away as far as i can tell. they're hard and plasticky. and the martini's have that god-forsaken martini glass on them. i, for one, am happy to be out of the 90's, why would i want chips that haven't escaped?

the JB's aren't the best design either, but the feel of the paulsons destroys the NJ's. considering how similar the prices are, i don't know why people would ever buy NJ clay instead of paulson.

From what I can tell it seems like the NJ's & Mardigras (by BlueChip) won't attract as much crud over time. That is a plus. I have a sample set of paulsons and have barely messed with them and they are all gunked up.

That being sed the softer feel of the paulson is nice too. Gotta give a little to get a little i guess.

yeah i noticed when people were posting "wear" pics in another thread, it seems the new paulsons get unusually filthy.

Um..the NJ Clays do not feel hard and plasticky at all. And especially not after they have been oiled/used for a bit. And a vinyl feel? The inlay has a textured feel to it like many Paulsons do..just not the JB Paulsons which have a smooth feel, which I happen to hate.

The feel and sound of the Paulson JB is decent, but they gunk up VERY quickly. I have been shuffling the samples I have here mixed with the NJ Martini and Nevada mold chips and the Paulsons are extremely dirty and gunky. That is mostly due to their softer nature.

The Paulsons are nice, but not for me. To call the NJ Clays junk or "plasticky" is just flat out wrong. They are VERY nice chips.

You also comment on the martini glass. Well, not everyone thinks the same way you do. Also, if he wishes to wait a little while, he can pick up the Mardis Gras chips instead. Same mold as the Martini Club with a different inlay and diff colors.

Don't let anyone tell you anything different. The NJ Clays are quality chips, there is NOTHING wrong with them.

i stand by my statements. calling my comments wrong doesn't make them so.

the JB's do get dirty easily, though. that's true.

btw, the NJ clays feel nothing like any casino quality clay chip i've ever played with. they're more, how you say, plasticky?

Calling your comments wrong based on the fact that you are heavily biased towards Paulson like almost everyone else here is perfectly fine.

They are quality clay chips and do not feel plasticky at all. I have had samples of both of them here for over a week and have messed around with them non stop in that time. They feel fine.

Looks and feel of chips are subjective. Both are good chips. Get samples and see what you like, it's worth it to spend 20 bucks now for a 1000 dollar investment.

But a couple of facts (at least I think they're facts):

1. Paulsons definitely get dirtier faster than NJ Clays

2. NJ Clays are 9g, Paulsons are 10g - some people like the lighter weight, others absolutely MUST HAVE the exact same weight as casinos (10g in most casinos)

3. Different denoms of NJ Clays can be slightly different thickness. In particular, the $25s seem to be slightly thinner than others. But the difference isn't huge. A stack of 20 may be different by 1/2 chip thickness. (There are pics and discussion of this on the other board).

4. Paulson > NJ Clays in terms of quality control. NJs often have warped chips and warped inlays . (but not too many, maybe 1% of chips or less, unknown if NJ will replace them for you but they might, also lots of discussion about this on the other board).

5. NJs seem more durable than Paulson (but we're likely talking about lasting 2 lifetimes vs 3 lifetimes, I doubt you'd have to replace either set anytime soon).

P.S. For what it's worth, I also think the NJ Clays feel plasticy compared to Paulsons, which to me is most important and which is why I'm getting Paulsons. But do yourself a favor and get samples.
